Vinyl Use Calculator
Vinyl Cost Calculator
Switch between inches and cm. Each section can represent a different vinyl colour/type used in the same project. Each section’s cost is rounded up to the nearest $0.50. The project total is also shown (rounded).
How to estimate how much vinyl was used
Use the actual space your design took up on the cutting mat. Offcuts and trimming waste are considered used for costing.
- Measure the design footprint: enter the width × length of the area your project occupied on the mat (use the unit toggle for cm or inches).
- Counting squares: on gridded mats, count the number of squares the design covers to get the size.
- Include waste: leftover pieces that are too small or awkward to reuse should be treated as used material in your cost.
- Save waste: when possible, place vinyl on the mat as close as practical to the design size to reduce offcuts.
Example:
You place 30 cm × 30 cm of vinyl on the mat, but your project’s design only occupies 15 cm × 25 cm on the grid.
Enter 15 × 25 into the calculator (switch Units to cm if needed). Any unusable offcuts are counted as usage for costing.
